About Me

Who am I?

I’m Alex Pritchard, I love games, both making them and playing them. I’ve completed a fair few projects during my time at university, and hope to accomplish many more! I’ve just graduated with a first-class honours degree in Computer Games Programming; it’s scary now that it’s over, but exciting to see where the future will take me. I’m familiar with a variety of languages, including C++, Java, C#, PHP, Python, Haskell and Prolog with varying proficiency.

My dissertation was on real-time terrain generation for games, which was really interesting as I looked at different ways to analyse terrain to determine its suitability for games. It also involved the development of a basic terrain engine, which I am already in the process of improving and aim to develop into the foreseeable future.

I’m also no stranger when it comes to web development, having done a 13-month placement working on e-commerce software. I also built this custom WordPress theme that you’re seeing now (though I’m still working on the finer details). I’ve dabbled in JavaScript, jQuery and the like over the years, but I tend to focus my development efforts on ‘desktop’ applications (I am a game developer after all).

What’s this all about?

This site is a collection of my thoughts, ideas and a log of any projects I’m working on (or at least, that is my intention). I hope that someone other than me finds this site to be interesting or helpful, which should be the case if you’re a developer with an interest in games. It’s also an online portfolio of my work, with source code available where possible, I enjoy programming in my spare time so I’ll feature any hobby projects here.
